My grandmother, Nell, of Irish descent, knew the centuries-old Celtic herbal remedies.  As a young girl I’d make rosewater, crushing the petals from grandad’s beautiful roses, in rainwater, in an old jam jar, for use in cooking, skincare, and the remedies Nell used to care for us.   

As a young mum caring for my son’s health (that’s us, above), and throughout my life, I’ve turned to Nature for health and well-being.

Whatever else was happening in my life, a trusty box of essential oils that I could use to make balms, creams and oil blends has been close to hand, plus a swathe of reference books by reputed aromatherapists (pre-the internet!).

In the late 1990s I worked for The Body Shop International in New Zealand, taking formal training in skincare, aromatherapy, and how to blend a product, it’s uses and application.

At the turn of 2000 I arrived in Perth, Western Australia and soon found myself working for an aromatherapist in the Perth Hills, making products using traditional recipes for skincare and health.

I moved to Albany in 2012, with full time Carer duties for a loved one.  Most recently, with time and energy to focus outside of the home, I am pursuing my passion, supporting family and friends with the blends and products developed over the years.

Two years ago now, ‘Ellen Cove Organics’ was born - named after the little cove on the corner of Middleton beach in Albany - a magical spot where the bush meets the Southern Ocean.  A place that nurtures and inspires. 

Through ‘Ellen Cove Organics’, I promote ‘Aromatherapy in Healthcare’, give talks locally about aromatherapy, and support community – my ‘At-Home Aromatherapy Care Pack’ created for Solaris Cancer Care centres in Western Australia is gifted to their clients. The clients’ positive feedback on the benefits they experience is heart-warming and is a daily inspiration to me.

Staying with natural, pure, and chemical-free ingredients, is a hallmark of my skincare, as is hand-blending which prevents the degrading of the essential oils and other ingredients that occurs in mass-production use of machinery.

I use Nature’s most potent essential oils, therapeutic grade, and certified organic where available. These include Rose Otto, Frankincense, Clary Sage and Sandalwood, Myrrh and Lavender (Lavandula Augustifolia).  These energetically active oils best support our daily needs.

It is my hope that these products will add well-being and energy to your day and for those you love, addressing many of our basic health and self-care needs.
